Junior year in High school, 2009; that’s when it started. A girl who was so beautiful and smart but quiet and shy felt a strong attraction for a boy. A boy who was funny, outgoing, and the life of the party. There he was, at a sweet 16 birthday party for one of their class mates dancing like a rodeo cowboy to Sugarhill Gang “Jump on it”. From that moment on she knew it was something there. She began asking around to see if anyone knew who this tall, light skinned, handsome looking guy was.

The next week at school she saw him. Sitting two tables over from her in the cafeteria she thought about making eye contact, waving or maybe going over there when she looked and saw who was sitting beside him, James. Now James was a boy who she dated in middle school, they broke up because he wanted to kiss her in front of the people in their class and she wasn’t feeling it at all so she dissed him. She knew he was embarrassed afterwards and she tried to call him and apologize but he got his brother to pick up the phone and break up with her and that was that.

Seeing James sitting beside the boy she had been crushing on all weekend made it seem unrealistic that she would ever get the chance…
